They are range raised by cows that are expected to produce under rigorous conditions. The bulls are weaned in early fall and are kept on meadows until they are trailed 25 miles by horseback to the Storer Ranch where they are wintered. There they are kept in large sandy lots and fed a high roughage, growing ration. Our purebred charolais bulls are performance tested as one group, subject to identical environmental conditions. Charolais cross feeder calves on weaning day.
“I purchased my first bull from Hebbert Charolais in 2010. The added performance at weaning was obvious and substantial. The Char-x calves were much bigger than their straightbred contemporaries and scientific data would confirm this. As of 2014, all ranch females, including virgin heifers, have been exposed Charolais. The Hebbert bulls are high on convenience traits such as calving ease and disposition, and the fertility and structural soundness of the bulls is outstanding, allowing the bulls to hold up extremely well.”
